150 Years Yokohama

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Port of Yokohama, the city sponsors the "Set Sail!" event. Lots of event were held in a lot of places in Yokohama focusing on the history and attractions of the city.

Japanese Overseas Migration Museum

For people who has interest on learning the stories of Japanese immigrants, The Japanese Overseas Migration Museum is the right museum for you. Located in the port city of Yokohama, this museum presents the stories of the Japanese people who emigrated to the New World in the late 19th and 20th centuries and their descendants. Run by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and opened in 2002, the Japanese Overseas Migration Museum receives 30,000 visitors per year.

The Ibaraki's photoshoot continues. Our destination was the tallest statue in Japan. With the height of 120 meters, Ushiku Daibutsu stands as the tallest statue in Japan. It is also one of the tallest statues in the world.

Yesterday my friends and I decided to go a little bit further from Tokyo and Chiba. Ibaraki Prefecture, not to be misspelled as Ibaragi, was our destination. Ibaraki is located in the northeastern part of Kantou region.
