Nokogiri Yama

IMG_0384
Nokigiri Yama (Saw Mountain) is a mountain located at the western end of Boso Peninsula, Honshu, Japan. It is called Saw Mountain because it resembles the edge of saw (Nokogiri). It is located 330 meters above the sea level. The famous spots there are The Daibutsu (Great Buddha), Sen Gohyaku Rakan (1500 disciples of Buddha), and Jigoku Nozoki (Peering into Hell) cliff.

In order to get there, you need to take a train to Hama-Kanaya Station in Uchibo Line.

IMG_0269
From there, walk and follow the direction to Nokogiri Yama.

You can take the cable car or walk to the top. I would recommend taking the cable car, since you will still need to walk a LOT after that.

Looks yummy.

Lovely view from the top.

IMG_0315
You need to make sure you are fit enough before climbing this stairs. It will be a long way to the top.

IMG_0312
After climbing the stairs, I first arrived in Jusshu Ichiran Observatory. There was basically nothing over there except the above err.... statue.

IMG_0313
The view was good though so I decided to have a little picnic there. With my onigiri..

and a bottle of Vitamin Water.

More stairs. It's said that there is 2639 steps to reach the top.

Is it really safe to carry the baby while doing hiking ?

A huge Hyaku Shaku Kannon on the wall.

The famous Jigoku Nozoki. It looked pretty scary from far.

IMG_0344
And it was even scarier from the cliff. This is what it looks like from the Jigoku Nozoki cliff. Bad guy will definitely goes straight to hell if they fall from here.

IMG_0337
Spotted a fluffy creature on the top.

Took a little break here. This is the highest place you can get.

The next spot was located far way below.

Took a little break while enjoying the mother nature.

Behold ! The largest Daibutsu (Great Buddha) in Japan. It was huge. The Daibutsu in Kamakura is the second largest.

IMG_0382
There was a little garden around the Daibutsu. Those trees are Sakura trees. It is almost Sakura season now. This place must be really beautiful when the Sakura blooms.

IMG_0398
Can't wait for Sakura season next week.

It was a very nice day to go hiking. The weather was also very nice that I wanted to just sit around, having lunch, and doing nothing.

That's all for this post. Will upload the second batch of photos soon.
