As a celebration of Mobile Suit Gundam's 30th-anniversary, Bandai announced that they will build a 1/1 Scale Gundam RX-78-2. The Gundam is set to be exhibited in July.
Thanks to
Punynary who let us know that the Gundam has been completed.
After reading his post, I immediately prepared all my gears to take photos of it on the next day.
The Gundam is located in Shiokaze Park, Odaiba. You could easily get there by Yurikamome Line or Rinkai Line.
I am going to tell you how to reach the park from Yurikamome Line. First, take the Yurikamome Line and head to Daiba Station. Once arrived, head toward the north exit (go left from the gate). On the right side, you will see the Aqua City and the Statue of Liberty. Ignore that ! Your destination is on the left side.
Head downstairs and keep going straight until you see the Shiokaze Park.
290m before you see Gundam. ^^
Almost there !
And there you go ! Standing tall is the Full Scale Gundam RX-78-2.
The Gundam is 18m tall. Pretty huge but I was expecting it to be much taller than this. ^^
The weather wasn't really good at that time. It was really cloudy. I want my blue sky >.<
Thank you for your hard work ! お疲れ様 !
The details are impressive. I was a bit surprised to see how detail it was.
The coolest thing I have ever seen in my life. Now, if only they make a Char Custom Zaku...
The Gundam Exhibition is planned from July 11th until August 31st. Make sure you go there !

Is it just me or there's something off with the alignment of the left shoulder armor..
a simple follow up, apart from Gundam F-91 the original Gundam is one of the small sized Mobile Suits..
You made me wanted to go there to see.. but accommodation to japan is expensive =<
hmm.. I couldn't see anything wrong with left shoulder.
Most of the Gundam are actually around 17 or 18m. Victory Gundam has the same height as F-91.
Come here and I will bring you there. ^^
look at the space right above the WB (white Base) sticker.. its like its not aligned.. the cavity seems to open up more compared to the other shoulder..
It's true that the cavity doesn't look aligned. The exhibition hasn't been started yet though, so I believe they are still doing a little bit of fixing. Let's see later on July.
i thought RX-78 was about 19 - 20m. and if i'm not mistaken RX-93 was 21m something
According to www.mahq.net, it's 18.5 m
It's like a scarecrow for keeping giant monsters away from the cities.
@BitVyper
Well, I hope there are monsters to be killed by that giant gundam...hehehe...but the gundam was disassembled already...now what will we do if the monsters attack? T.T
Amazing. It's absolutely amazing when you look at those pics and see how small the people are compared to the RX-78-2. It's not hard to appreciate all the effort and details put into creating this... to create a life-sized mecha like this is no small feat! Also, it's pretty cool that it lights up and shoots mist out from its vents -- those extra features make the Gundam more life-like, don't you think? An awesome sight for Gundam fans everywhere, indeed.
