Ryusenji Temple Meguro Fudou

Ryusenji Temple Meguro Fudo
There are probably exist a few thousands of temple and shrine in Japan. It's quite to easy find a temple or shrine close to where you live. One day, I was taking a walk around Meguro and I was surprised to find the Ryusenji Temple (滝泉寺) there. It is also commonly known as Meguro Fudou or Meguro Fudouson (目黒不動尊). It turned out that the temple is one of the oldest of it's kind. It is also the 'Black' temple of the Five Colors of Fudou (五色不動) : White (白), Black (黒), Red (赤), Blue (青), Yellow (黄).

Yoyogi in Black and White

Meiji Jingu
It was Sunday, another day of scorching heat. No matter how hot it was, it couldn't stop me and my partner in crime, Derek, to do a photowalk at Yoyogi Koen. We walked ( a lot ! ), took photos, ate Biryani rice at Indian / African Festival, watched basketball match, and practiced some Juujutsu.

Goutokuji - The Maneki Neko Legend

Goutokuji - Maneki Neko
The Maneki Neko ( 招き猫 = The Beckoning Cat ) is a Japanese cat sculpture, usually made of ceramic, which is believed to bring good fortune and wealth. If you come to Japan, you will be able to see Maneki Neko in shops, restaurants, pachinko, banks, offices, houses, etc. The Maneki Neko is also one of the famous souvenirs from Japan. You could also found Maneki Neko as piggy banks, keychains, straps, and other miscellaneous ornaments.

There are many stories regarding the origin of Maneki Neko. The three famous legends are the Goutokuji, Imado, and Yoshiwara.

招き猫の由来はいくつ説があるけど豪徳寺と今戸神社と吉原説が一番有名です。

Eka + Fanny

Eka & Fanny
Meet Eka and Fanny, the cute couple who just got married... last week ! That's right. Last week !!

Eka is one of my good friends since I was in university. We studied, played games, giggled, laughed, and doing fun stuffs together. When I heard about his wedding, I was sad that I couldn't attend his wedding in Jakarta.

I wished I could go...

However, instead of me coming to their wedding, they both decided to hop on a plane, fly here to Tokyo, and ask me to document their sweet escape in Tokyo. How could I say 'no' to them ?

These past few days, we walked around Tokyo from Shinjuku to Asakusa... from Odaiba to Disneyland, laughed together, shared stories, and took lots of memorable photos.

Tokyo Sweet Escape
Last week was a little bit special for me. I had a chance to become Han and Waiyu's photographer. What's a better time for a couple to visit Tokyo than Sakura season? During their little sweet escape to Tokyo, I was lucky enough to be able to capture a part of their life.
