Diptych. I just found out about the word yesterday. I don't even know how to pronounce it correctly. Diptych refers to a single image composed of two photos that fit together nicely. Above photo is one of the example of Diptych.
Remember that you can only use two photos for Diptych. Two. Not three. Not Four. Otherwise it will be called Triptych (3), Tetraptych (4), or Pentaptych (5). Maybe we should called it Polyptych.
Any two photos that work well together can be used for Diptych.
Two photos with different perspective
Different time
Same theme
Same story
Same place
Same subject
Same species
Basically you can put any two photos that are calling out each other.
The quick way to do it is by doubling the width of your canvas. Fire up Photoshop, open two images with the same size, double the width of the first photo, copy the second photo and drop it into the first photo. Done ! Very easy.
Now get creative and diptych away because two are better than one !
